Hi-beam problem

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:39 pm

I am having an intermitant problem with my driver;s side hi-beam.
sometimes it just does not come on, not more or less than normal
operations.  It happens when flashing the highs when the headlights
are off and when switching to hi-beams when the lights are on.  Any
ideas?

Group, you must be a BMW service specialist with at least four years of
BMW experience and/or BMW factory training.  A commitment to participate
and to contribute to the group is required.  You must currently service
and repair (primarily) BMW automobiles professionally.  If you meet this
criteria, you can send an e-mail message to rgg…@EMsport.com .  Please

Help! Black BMW has lost it's shine!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:39 pm

Hello all,
I have a black 1993 325i and I live in So. CA (some of you might know
what’s coming). My paint is in terrible condition, especially in the front
. . . I got "stains" that won’t come out with washes, what appears to be
dead paint, swirl marks, a dull greyish/black look to the paint when in
the sun, and a ton of little dots from rocks.
I would appreciate it if anyone who’s experienced similar problems would
contact me and tell me how to restore my car to it’s original glory (other
than repainting it or buying another one, that is).

Thanks for your time and trouble!

88 M3 questions

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:38 pm

Hi all!

Last weekend, I had the privilege of driving my friend’s M3 for more
than 300 miles. He bought the car recently at 110,000 miles and so far
he hasn’t had any problems with it. But being a picky kind of driver,
here’s what I’ve observed and curious about:

1. When you keep the engine above 4500rpm for a while (a couple hard
accelerations to the redline with the throttle all the way down in 2nd
gear for example), you get this weird burning smell. It’s hard to
describe it, but it’s somewhat like the smell from the chemical of a
match. The engine and oil temperatures do not change and the smell
goes away if you don’t push the engine so hard.

2. The stick travel seems way too long! It was long ago, but I
remember being impressed by the crispness and speed of the stick on a
84 316. Then again, I was probably ‘comparing’ it to some crummy car
then and not to my 92 SE-R. Anyways, even if the travel is ok, the
gearbox seems to hesitate a lot when shifting from 1st to 2nd and that
really hurts when you are trying to be quick.

3. Are you happy with that screw jack? We had a flat tire. I think it
must have been the curse of all those whose pleasant rides I ruined
with our noisy engine :) Well, the stupid screw jack didn’t work! The
part that is supposed to ‘catch’ was bent and unfortunately didn’t
catch. So the jack kept sliding off. We had to stop a Celica and use
its jack. How embarassing! BMW’s jack doesn’t look reliable at all!

thanks in advance for any insights and suggestions,
cenk

Considering BMW 528i

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:38 pm

I am considering purchasing my first BMW.  I am looking at an 1986 528i.
It is in good condition for the mileage.  Current owner claims all is well
accept for the A/C.  Also told me that the timing belt has recently been
replaced (i will confirm this of course).  Any comments or suggestions.
How much money should I expect to spend on the A/C and the car itself.
