How to get air into the trunk

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:24 am

I have a sub woofer in my trunk (325i E30) and it sounds much better when the
trunk is open, ie when there is air flowing in and out of the trunk.  Is
there a way to make a hole in the rear seat.  I was thinking where the rear
arm rest is, that way, I can cover up the hole if needed.  This is where is
ski bag option goes.  Has anyone ever doen this??  Is there an easier
way??  Thanks

M3 Wet Weather Performance

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:23 am

Can anybody advise me how well a M3 handles in rainy conditions?  I love
the
car and am seriously thinking about purchasing a new ’97 but it will be my
only car and I am concerned about good all season performance.  The car I
have now, an ’86 Corvette, while a great sunny weather car tends to
hydroplane all to readily.  The dealship says that the traction control
makes a big differences but I’m still skeptical.

AIR FILTER

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:23 am

Hi I just put on a K&N air filter for my car and have a problem.  The check
engine light comes on when it rains and off when it’s sunny.  Any one know
what’s wrong?

St. Louis Dealers

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:22 am

I recently purchased my 328 at Autohaus of Clayton in St. Louis.  I had
wonderful service and a wonderful experience for being a first time BMW
owner.  I dealt with all three dealers in the St. Louis area for quite a bit
of time before the deal was done.  I was rather disappointed in several
aspects of the other two dealers when it came time to bargain.  I was also
rather disappointed in one dealers comments to me when he called after I
decided to purchase from Autohaus.

I am interested in other’s experiences with ANY of the St. Louis dealers.

If this was any other car, I wouldn’t care so much about the dealers!!  :-)

Manual reset of the Oil Service dash indicator?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:33 pm

I have a 1986 528e (E28) M20….and i do all the minor servicing
myself. I was wondering how I would go about reseting the in dash "Oil
Service" indicator. Is it located under the steering wheel or
somewhere under the hood?

Auto Consignment!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:33 pm

If you live in the northeast area and you are selling your car, but you
don’t want to give up the weekends, you can sell your car on consignment with
us. We are one of the very few places that offer a consignment program in the
area. To those of you that are tired of potential buyers showing YOU up on the
weekends. Or those of you that travel on business, and just don’t have the time
to deal with the hassles. I know what an unrewarding experience it can be! Our
fees are very reasonable, and the car does not sell unless the price is right
with you. We can sell your car in an average time of 2-3 weeks.
If your car is in decent shape ie. (no major rust or damage that might
inhibit it’s drivability), it is eligible for our consignment program. We
welcome classics too. It’s so easy! Pickups are also available depending on
distance. We are in the Fairfield County area. To make an appointment or find
out more info, please e-mail us at:

I am also a broker, so if there is a specific car that you are looking for, I
am sure that I can help find it for you.

Thanks,

1981 320i questions

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:32 pm

Recently I posted some questions regarding how I should
start a 1981 320i after two years of sitting. I’d like to
thank everyone who replied. I’m happy to report that getting
the car started was a breeze and, aside from some VERY
fouled Bosch Supers and valves in SERIOUS need of
adjustment, is running like a champ. Now the questions
begin…

Q: When the car is running and I pull the oil filler cap the
engine stumbles and drops the idle by a few hundred RPM for
a couple of seconds. It doesn’t die and the idle stabilizes
after a few seconds, but I’ve never heard/seen/imagined this
happening. Does this have anything to do with BMW’s
emissions control system?

Q: There are plastic (not rubber – not neoprene, but
plastic) lines that *appear* to be fuel lines running to
each cylinder. What are these? I can’t imagine a plastic
FUEL line. What are these?

Q: Should there be any kind of hose or other air flow
control device attached to the air filter housing? Something
about it looks "unfinished" and I’m wondering if that hose
didn’t disappear over time.

Q: Does anyone out there have opinions on Quaker State’s
synthetic motor oils? What about their Synchron Ultra
Premium Full Synthetic? Does it meet BMW specs?

Q: Given the choice of Texaco, Shell, or Diamond Shamrock
gasoline – which would you choose for your BMW?

Q: A train leaves Chicago at 3:04pm…
