I have a 2004 325xi, and am thinking about self installing the factory
alarm. The parts do not appear to include any transmitter. I have the
stock key that came with the car that opens/locks the doors, trunk.
Will I need to also purchase another key or fob for the BMW alarm
system?

Do all E46 indash CD-players control CD-changer?
Do all E46 one disk indash CD-players (Business CD) control BMW CD-changer?
I have Tape/FM now with trunk mounted BMW CD-changer and I’m considering to
upgrade to indash player, but I’m not sure if I’m able to keep my changer
after doing so.
Does anyone know for sure?

1991 318i Convertable–How To Take Top Down?
My Mom recently purchase a 1991 BMW 318i Convertable and can’t get the
top down. Apparently, the Owner’s Manual was missing and she can’t
figure it out. Can someone explain how to take the top down? Thanks
very much!
Navigation System for 5 series
I have a 1999 528i and was wondering if anyone knows if BMW makes a
navigation system with an LCD screen that can be retrofitted into the 5
series. I have a tape deck that I’d like to remove and thought I would
replace it with a GPS.
If BMW doesn’t make them, does anyone know of a good after market one that
would look good and fit in the 1999 5 series?
Thanks
E46 Brake Job – 330xi
I installed new brake pads and rotors on my E46 (2002 330xi). I
installed Pagid pads and Zimmermann rotors. They’re working great, no
squeak, no vibrations, stop on a dime.
But when I look at the front pads very closely there is a larger gap
between the pad and the rotor on the rear of the pad versus the front of
the pad. This is true on BOTH the right and left FRONT PADS ONLY. Both
back pads are completely parallel to the to the rotor. By the "front
of the pad" I mean the part closest to the center of the rotor. The
"rear of the pad" is the part closest to the tire.
I had my son put his foot on the brake while I looked at the front pads
with a flashlight. With the car stationary, the front pads touched the
rotor only with the front part of the pad. Then I had him roll forward
very slowly and the front pads flattened out and touched the rotor over
the entire surface of the pad. The gap on the rear of the pads is about
1/16 of an inch (that’s a guess…it might be 1/8). The gap on the
front of the pads is paper thin (very close but not touching)….just
like the pads on the rear wheels.
The rotors seem to be wearing fine, there is no "rusty part" that never
gets any contact with the pad.
My question……is this normal? Will the front pads after more wear be
parallel to the rotor in both the front and back? Is this something
unique to Pagid or Zimmermann? Or did I do something wrong?
This may not be any problem at all and just the way the work, but since
I installed these, I’ve been paying more attention to the brakes.
The old pads and rotors (factory issue) didn’t do this. Both front and
read sets of pads were completely parallel to the rotors.
Did I do something wrong?
By the way, I’ve already put about 4,000 miles on these new brakes.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom Allen
