Hi all:
I purchased an an 89 seven a week ago and today I noticed that the
exhaust pipe is emitting very thick fumes or smoke on idle…. Any body

You didn’t say if it was coming from inside the exhaust system or from
outside it…
If inside:
If the smoke is "rich" smelling like fuel, then you have an excessively rich
mixture and your cold start valve is possibly frozen.
If the smoke is heavy and oily, you could have a damaged cylinder wall, worn
piston rings, stuck piston ring, bad valve seals or a wide range of things.
If outside:
Could be paint or undercoating overspray on the exhaust system.
Could be oil getting on the exhaust manifold
