Does anyone know how much difference I’d see in grip between VR rated tires
compared to ZR? I certainly don’t need the higher speed rating, but I wonder if
the ZR’s are softer and stick better.
I’m thinking of switching from 225/55-15 ZR’s to 225/50-15 VR’s,
possibly 235′s if they’ll fit on the stock rims and not rub on the front. It’s
a ’94 BMW 325is with the sport pkg and spoke type stock wheels.
(BTW, nobody makes 225/55-15′s in VR’s, hence the diff. #’s)

As a rule Z rated tyres have stiffer sidewalls and last better. It’s a
long story but I ended up with Uniroyal VRs on the front of my 318iS and
HR on the back. The back end is looser than it should be and the tyres
wear quicker than their VR predecessors.
Very pleased I got ZRs on my 635CSi last week to replace the TRXs
